cardboard arcade

For the first time ever, spilled milk social club is offering our beloved Cardboard Arcade summer session as a HUGE community event. We will be inviting kids from across Austin to participate in the largest cardboard creation project we've ever attempted.

Participants will design, construct, and operate their very own arcade and carnival-style game out of cardboard and other recyclable materials over the course of four weekend workshops. Our trained team of creatives will educate participants in the skills and methods needed to bring their ideas to life.

On November 8, we will open the arcade to the public, as an interactive art installation included as a stop on the 2025 Austin Studio Tour.

More details below!

  • Anyone ages 8-15 who is interested in creating something awesome with us! No experience necessary, but an eagerness to participate is required.

  • 4 Workshops:

    October 4, 11, 18 & 25  from 10 a - 2 pm

    Arcade opens to public:

    November 8 from 10 am - 4 pm

In order to get the full experience, we’d love for all participants to be available for all 5 sessions. Missing one session will be ok, but missing more than that will have an impact on one’s ability to fully participate. If you have concerns or questions about this, please email ali@spilledmilksocialclub.com to discuss.

  • spilled milk social club headquarters!

3804 Cherrywood Road, Austin, Texas 78722

  • Participation is totally free. We’ll also provide lunch for participants at each workshop and the event, as well as a cardboard maker toolkit to keep!

Because our community education programs sustain entirely on donations, we will offer participants’ families the option to make a donation at the time of registration. A donation is not required in order to participate. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly back into funding future community programs such as this one.

  • To reduce barriers to participation, we are planning to offer transportation from 2 East Austin locations. Stay tuned for more info on this or reach out to ali@spilledmilksocialclub.com with questions.
